Patients cared for in the Piedmont Medical Center Intensive Care Unit (ICU) receive advanced treatments and extensive monitoring from a group of highly skilled physicians called intensivists. Intensivists have earned additional certification in the medical subspecialty of Critical Care Medicine and specialize in treating seriously ill and injured adult patients. As medical care coordinators for all patients in the ICU, our intensivists consult and collaborate with patients’ primary care physicians, specialists and members of the patient’s clinical team.
